  Message of the day: This is a reminder that you should be playing the game on a terminal with the dimensions 80x25. Yes, you read that right, 80x25, not that weird 80x24 default that many terminal emulators seem to have. If you haven't already, open your terminal settings NOW and change it to 80x25 or you'll keep wondering why the bottom status line disappears when it gets too long! But also, don't make the terminal bigger - if you set it to wacky values like 88x25 or 137x34 or whatever, the bottom status line won't work properly either!

  You might want to turn on the number pad, which is done by opening the options with shift-O and navigating to the number_pad entry (it's not between null and perm_invent, you have to scroll further down to the compound options). Toggle that with the appropriate letter key and hit spacebar (not escape!) until the number_pad dialog comes up, and set it to 2. Alternatively, you can also turn on the number pad by adding this line to your options file: OPTIONS=number_pad:2 (probably requires you to start a new game).
