The GTK interface was written for this variant and released in 1999. Mitsuhiro Itakura headed a team which began the process of redrawing the NetHack tiles in 8-bit color at 32x32 pixels. The final update to 3.2 was the bug fix release 3.2.3, which was released simultaneously with 3.3.0 in December 1999 just in time for the Year 2000.
